Ductless Mini-Split Installation and Repair
Mini split air conditioners are growing in popularity as more people turn away from window unit ACs or seek to turn outdoor buildings and garages into functional work and living spaces. These ductless mini split units offer the convenient comfort of central heating and air conditioning without the expense and hassle of installing ducts for a standard HVAC unit. At Southern Jentleman Home Repair, we provide mini split installation and see them as an excellent middle ground for people who need a simple, affordable way to stay comfortable.

What Are Ductless Mini-Split Systems?
Standard HVAC and central ACs work by pulling warm air from your home into duct work using a motorized fan. Refrigerant is pumped from the outside compressor into the interior evaporator coil where it absorbs the heat, then the cooled air is pushed through the connecting ducts to vents that are spaced throughout the home.
A mini split HVAC does double duty to heat and cool your home. It has the outdoor condenser and the interior unit that handles the air, along with a conduit that connects the two where the power cable, refrigerant and suction tubing, and condensate drain are held, but there is no duct work. Instead, air is pulled from the home into the outdoor unit, it’s cooled, then it goes right back out through the vents through a blower.
Typically, these ductless HVAC systems are installed in:
-
- Homes originally built without central HVAC duct work;
-
- Room add-ons where extending duct work isn’t feasible;
-
- Garages
-
- Apartments
-
- Outdoor workshops
Benefits of Ductless Mini-Split Systems
Ductless mini-split systems offer a wide range of benefits that make them a popular choice for homeowners and businesses. Here are some of the advantages of ductless mini-split systems:
- Energy efficiency: Ductless mini-split systems are highly energy-efficient, as they do not require ductwork to deliver conditioned air. This means that there is no loss of energy through leaks in the ductwork, making them more efficient than traditional central air conditioning systems.
- Zoned heating and cooling: Ductless mini-split systems can be installed with multiple indoor units that can be controlled independently. This allows you to set different temperatures in different rooms, which can save you money on your energy bills.
- Easy installation: Ductless mini-split systems are easy to install and do not require any ductwork. This means that installation is quick and non-invasive, making them a popular choice for older homes and buildings.
- Improved air quality: Ductless mini-split systems have advanced filtration systems that can remove dust, pollen, and other allergens from the air. This can improve the air quality in your home or office, which is especially important for people with allergies or respiratory issues.
